Excel to Google Calendar — Import a Spreadsheet of Events

Google Calendar does not read Excel files. The usual route is to rename your columns to Google’s template, fix the date format, save the sheet as CSV and hope the import accepts it. Upload the .xlsx here instead: each row becomes an event in an .ics file that Google Calendar imports in one step.

Skip the CSV detour

No "Save As CSV" and no template. The first sheet that holds a table is read, and your own column headers decide what goes where.

Dates land on the right day

Excel stores dates and times as numbers behind the scenes. They are converted to the dates and times you see in the sheet, so a shift on the 13th stays on the 13th.

Your workbook stays on your device

The file is read in your browser. Only the rows of the sheet are sent, as plain text, to be turned into events.

How to import an Excel file into Google Calendar

  1. Upload your .xlsx file in the box above. Put the column headers in the first row of the sheet.
  2. Click Generate. Each row is turned into an event; check the titles, dates and times on screen.
  3. Download the .ics file. In Google Calendar on a computer, open Settings → Import & Export, select the file, pick a calendar and click Import.

Example sheet

Shift | Date | Start | End
Early | 13/11/2026 | 06:00 | 14:00
Late | 14/11/2026 | 14:00 | 22:00
Early | 16/11/2026 | 06:00 | 14:00

Three Google Calendar events named Early and Late on 13, 14 and 16 November, each with its start and end time.
